The Baofeng BF-888s is an inexpensive 70cm radio which is one of the most popular cheap handheld radios in the amateur radio hobby.
The Icom ID-31a is a UHF (70cm) D-STAR radio and currently the least expensive new option for getting into D-STAR digital radio. When talking D-STAR, the least expensive is still expensive, is it worth it? Let’s find out!
The Radioddity GD-77 is a dual-band DMR radio that looks like a copy of the Baofeng DM-1801. Is it worth the extra money? Let’s see!
The Arcshell AR-6 is an upgraded version of their AR-5, itself a close of the Baofeng BF-888s. It is also my favorite ultra-cheap two-way radio. Read below to find out why!
The Baofeng BF-T1 is an ultralight 70cm radio meant to throw in your pocket, purse, or bag without weighing you down. How does it stack up to other offerings? Read on and find out!
The TYT MD-380 is probably the most famous DMR radio out there, as just about everyone I know of started DMR with this radio. Is it worth its reputation? Read on and find out!
There are a lot of radios in the same market as the Radioddity GA-2S, namely the Baofeng BF-888s, eSynic zESY66, and the Arcshell AR5/AR6 models. The Baofeng is clearly the sales leader, while Arcshell distinguishes itself with colorful cases. So what does Radioddity bring to the table with this entry?
The Baofeng BF-E90 is a small, pocket-sized, 73cm 440MHz radio just starting to appear online (as of this writing it is only available directly from China and not available on Amazon, although that should change soon). It appears to be a cheaper model of the BF-T1, missing some of the buttons and the screen. The BF-T1 wasn’t a great radio, but it was pretty nice for something that can fit in your shirt pocket and not look like a radio.
The Retevis RB22 is billed as a new generation professional radio with advanced digital technology features. At first glance, it appears much like many other Chinese DMR radios. Is it really a professional radio, or just another cheap DMR clone?
The Baofeng DM-V1 is one of, if not the cheapest DMR radios made. Is it also the worst? Spoiler alert, yes it is. Read on to find out why.
